My Story
Much of my life and work has been shaped by a search for belonging—across communities, identities, traditions, and institutions.
That search has led me through journalism, nonprofit leadership, communications, faith formation, accessibility work, and community organizing. While the titles have changed, the question underneath them has remained remarkably consistent:
How do we build places where people can show up fully as themselves?
-
Today, I serve as Co-Founder and Executive Administrator of the Bayard Rustin Institute for Leadership Development, where I help cultivate leaders, strengthen communities, and support justice-centered organizing across generations.
My work often sits at the intersection of strategy, communications, storytelling, accessibility, and systems design. Whether I'm building a website, writing an article, designing a leadership program, or helping an organization navigate change, I'm usually doing the same thing:
Helping people turn vision into reality.
More About Me
-
I believe curiosity is one of the most underrated leadership skills we have.
I believe accessibility is a form of hospitality.
I believe communities become stronger when people are given permission to bring their full selves into the room.
I believe stories help us imagine futures before we know how to build them.
And I believe some of the most important work in the world is done by the people who unfold the folding chairs, bring the casserole, remember your pronouns, and make sure everyone has a seat at the table.
-
Right now, I'm:
Exploring ministerial formation
Studying Curanderismo and ancestral traditions of healing
Writing journalism, essays, and poetry
Building leadership programs through the Bayard Rustin Institute
Thinking about accessibility, belonging, and the future of community
-
At home, you'll usually find me around a kitchen table, walking our rescue dog, swapping stories with friends, tinkering with a new creative project, or chasing a question that refuses to leave me alone.
I live in Georgia with my two partners and firmly believe that good conversations, shared meals, and a little curiosity can change more than we think.
Where I’m doing this work
From national organizations to community-led and creative projects, I’ve supported work that carries real weight—helping shape ideas, systems, and stories into something people can actually use, understand, and move forward with.
In many of these spaces, I’ve also been invited to speak, teach, and lead workshops—translating complex ideas in real time and helping people engage them more clearly and meaningfully.
